What is canyoneering or canyoning?
Canyoning (known as canyoneering in the U.S.) is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rappelling), and swimming.
Canyoning (Canyoneering) is the most memorable and adventurous adrenaline-pumping activities Cebu has to offer. Canyoning particularly in Kanlaob River of Alegria to Kawasan Falls of Badian has become popular among adventure-seekers wanting to experience a new adventure after it was featured in a travel TV show “Biyahe ni Drew” hosted by actor Drew Arellano.
What to wear?
Clothes with quick dry material are recommended, as you’ll be sweating and may get wet. Shorts or leggings, wet suits or rash guards, trekking sandals (aqua shoes with thin soles are not recommended), dive shoes/booties and runner shoes are fine. Bring some extra clothes and towel to change. We’ll provide the safety gears: Helmet, Life Vest, knee pads/caps & Waterproof bag (if needed).
How to get here?
If you’re from Cebu South Bus terminal – ride a bus going to Bato via Barili and tell the conductor to drop you at Barangay Ginablan, Badian. Make sure you ride a “Bato via Barili” route otherwise, it won’t pass Barangay Ginablan. Buses are leaving every 45 minutes (ordinary buses) and every 1 hour (aircon buses). It takes approximately 3 hours to get here.
If you’re from Dumaguete – it is a 20-minute fast craft ride from Sibulan to Lilo-an, Santander or Tampi to Bato, Samboan. From Lilo-an, Santander or Bato, Samboan, you can reach Brgy. Ginablan in an hour by taking the Ceres Bus going to “Cebu City via Barili”.
If you’re from Mindanao – port of Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte. Take a barge/ferry boat going to Bato, Samboan then ride a Ceres Bus bound to “Cebu via Barili” and tell the conductor to drop you at Barangay Ginablan, Badian.
